Situated between Barkly East and Rhodes with views of the stunning Eastern Cape Drakensberg, the Old Dairy Restaurant is housed in a beautiful sandstone barn built in 1890. The building has been recently been converted from a milking parlour using natural materials found on the farm. The combination of sandstone blocks, timber and river rocks gives the restaurant an elegant and rustic atmosphere that fits well with the barn’s history and tranquil mountain location.

We offer home cooked food produced using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible including beautifully tender Barkly lamb. With generous helpings our reasonably-priced A La Carte menu is proving very popular with both the local farming community and visitors to the region. There is always a great selection of grills and fish dishes, complemented by a choice of specials that reflect the area's well-defined seasons.

All ages are welcome at The Old Dairy and there is plenty of space for children to play outside in freedom and safety. There is a Kiddies Menu for younger members of the family and we provide puzzles and games to ensure that parents can enjoy a relaxing meal.

Our most recent conversion has provided seating capacity of 150+, so we are now also taking bookings for larger functions and romantic country weddings in a mountain farm setting.
